Dream Collabs Don’t Just Happen: See How Aldo & FLARE Got It Done

They say two is better than one, and FLARE’s capsule collection with Aldo is sartorial proof. Designed by Elizabeth Cabral, fashion director of FLARE, the collaboration is made up of four lust-worthy pieces: two limited-edition handbags, a daytime heel, and an evening shoe. Of course, pieces as stylish as these don’t happen over night.
Cabral speaks about the complexities of the design process, saying, “The evening shoe prove[d] to be a challenge. Designer Jackie Yermus and I scrap[ped] several designs before narrowing it down to a lace open-toed stiletto bootie.”
Even though the shoe looks so effortlessly elegant, Cabral and Yermus spoke for hours about the exact degree to which the toe should be pointed and where the strap should fall on the ankle. Of course, it’s this attention to detail that makes this collaboration so lust-worthy.
All items will be available online and in store later this month — until then, take a peak at the planning stages that go into a collection. Click into the slideshow to check out the meetings and prototypes that had to go down before the final product could be made.
