11-year-old St. Louis boy fatally shoots a teen in an alleged home invasion; let’s just all agree not to read the news during the three-day weekend
St. Louis police report that an 11-year-old boy shot and killed a 16-year-old who made multiple attempts to break into the boy’s home. Left home by his parents with his 4-year-old sister, the boy shot the 16-year-old in the head, scaring away a second suspect who allegedly participated in the home invasion and is now in police custody. Neighbors dispute the police’s account with a witness claiming that the teen was shot at point-blank range after arguing with the 11-year-old on the front porch. (CNN)

Pew also found that millennials, commonly defined as people currently between the ages of 18 and 34, are less likely than other generations to correctly self-identify: only 40 percent of millennials saw themselves as millennials; eight percent referred to themselves as Baby Boomers. A 26-year-old New York City teacher has been arrested for piloting a drone into empty stands during a second-round U.S. Open match. Daniel Verley has been charged with reckless endangerment and operating a drone outside an authorized area. Everyone — including players Flavia Pennetta of Italy and Monica Niculescu of Romania, who were allowed to complete the match after a brief investigation — left the crash unharmed, except the drone, which shattered on impact.
