Rihanna’s Gone Folk, Thanks To Kanye And McCartney

Rihanna just possibly became our new favorite folk singer of
2015. And this is thanks to Paul McCartney and Kanye West. No, really. The
Bajan pop singer tweeted out the link to "FourFiveSeconds" on
Saturday night, along with a black-and-white photo of herself looking young and
vulnerable, flanked by her collaborators. Her face is nearly makeup free, in
line with the stripped down vocals of the tune.

"I think I've had enough," she begins the song
with a rough, high-pitched wail, before she lowers into a smoother growl. "I might get a little drunk./ Might do a little time."

McCartney's acoustic guitar and a slight echo effect
accompany her as she sings about letting off steam in the middle of the week.
In the chorus, she declares, "Now I'm four, five seconds from wildin'/And
we got three more days 'til Friday./ I'm just tryna make it back home by
Monday, mornin'/I swear I wish somebody would tell me/ Ooh thats all I want."

Kanye comes in for a verse early on. "Woke up and not
to miss/ Sun was shining, I'm positive/ Then I heard you was talking trash/
Hold me back, I'm about to spazz."

Macca's organ and some back up vocals take the song to its
climax, but as with Kanye's "Only One" collabo, the Beatles legend's
voice is nowhere to be heard.

It's certainly a different style for RiRi, one she seemed
quite eager to get out to her fans. Just watch this adorable video of her seeing
it go live (as captured by her friend, Melissa Forde).

"FourFiveSeconds" is available for download on iTunes.
