Is that actually summer on the horizon? Even so, we've learned by now that the heat doesn't settle down for long here in the Bay. So, in the interest of helping you take in as much warm weather as possible, we found the five events you must high-tail it to before it's back to dreariness. Savor those rays when you swing by a store opening in go-to micro-hood Hayes Valley, or allow yourself to ogle the precious finds at the Metier trunk show. Or, give yourself a little TLC at a McMullen Boutique and Bounce Blowdry Bar event. Because, when the sun's shining bright, there's but one rule: Take it in, and treat yourself.
McMullen & Bounce Blowdry Bar Spring Event
Sneak in some pampering before you slip into that spring frock by joining McMullen Boutique and Bounce Blowdry Bar for an exclusive spring party. Get a quick lesson on how to maintain that Bounce blowout while you lock in your new look — all over a glass of Esterlina Vineyards Wine. The biggest treat of all? For every $100 spent, you get a $15 gift card.
When: Sunday, May 4, 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: McMullen, 1235 Grand Avenue, Piedmont (between Fairview and Sunnyvale avenues); 510-658-6906.
RSVP: Here
Metier Antique Jewelry Trunk Show
It's as good a time as any to bulk up that jewelry box, and Metier has all the heirloom gems to fully stock your collection. Visit its two-day antique-jewelry trunk show for an in-salon event, plus cocktails. So, get your bling on and your drink on all at once.
When: Friday, May 2, 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 3, noon to 6 p.m.
Where: Metier, 210 Post Street (between Stockton Street and Grant Avenue); 415-590-2998.
RSVP: Space is limited, so RSVP to events@metiersf.com
Urban Air Market Four Year Anniversary
To celebrate the impending warm weather (and its four-year anniversary), Urban Air Market will be setting up in Hayes Valley. Spanning four whole blocks, this festive event will feature sustainable designs, from clothing to accessories to home goods. Plus, you can't miss out on live music by Foxtails Brigade, One Man Banjo, Paige & the Thousand, Uni & Her Ukelele, Erin Brazill and the Brazillionaires, and Tin Bop Serenade.
When: Sunday, May 4, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Hayes Valley (at Octavia and Hayes streets); no phone.
Gather's Grand Opening Celebration
Very little fills us with more delight than welcoming new, shoppable locales to our streets. This time around, we're honoring the opening of Gather with a sweet retail fete. Local, hand-crafted merchandise is the name of this store's game, so expect to find some of your S.F. favorites, like Flying Bird Botanicals, Fat and the Moon, and Spark + Pepper.
When: Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Gather, 541 Octavia Street (between Grove and Ivy streets); 415-799-7130.
Fullosophie Workshop: Scouting The Alameda Flea With A Stylist
The Alameda Flea can be a tad stressful — unless you know just what treasures to look for. Join Fullosophie for yet another genius workshop, and take a trip to the flea with stylist and A + B Creative owner Rebekah Carey McNall. After years of shopping the world's markets for photo shoots and interiors, she knows her way around these booths like no one else.
When: Sunday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Alameda Flea Market, 2900 Navy Way (at Monarch Street), Alameda; 510-522-7500.
RSVP: Tickets are $59; reserve your spot here.
