Last Season's Maxi-Skirt — You lived in this floor-length skirt for the last few summers, but, lately, you've been skipping it in favor of your new high-slit pencil skirts and midi-length full skirts. However, with some clever layering, you'll be able to transform it into a fancy-looking bottom half for any upcoming spring wedding.

H&M Maxi Skirt, $17.95, available at H&M.

Chances are your skirt is a high-waisted version. Layer with one of your roomy, silky camisoles in a coordinating hue (either a shade lighter or darker for a tonal effect, or a complementary color to colorblock). The key is to make sure the top of the cami ends below the smallest part of your waist — it'll create a streamlined, slip-gown-like silhouette that looks super dressy.

Your Go-To Work Suit — In a subtle pinstripe or check, your work suit might feel too stodgy to wear for spring weddings. But, it actually can provide the basis for a really fashion-forward, boy-meets-girl ensemble.

Zara Checked Blazer, $89.90, available at Zara; Zara Checked Trousers, $59.90, available at Zara.

With a peplum top and your favorite pair of colorful sandals, the suit can turn into a wow-worthy piece that feels more couture than corporate. The key is to make sure your ankles are properly exposed. (You might want to use some hem tape to temporarily shorten your pants.) Accessorize with a party clutch and statement jewelry, and no one will confuse you for someone who just stumbled out of a boardroom.

Stella Jean Ayana Patterned Top, $363.06, available at Farfetch; Zara Checked Trousers, $59.90, available at Zara; Nasty Gal Wanderluster Freia Earrings, $90, available at Nasty Gal; Jason Wu Snake Print Cage Heel $1,195, available at Kirna Zabête; Zara Checked Blazer, $89.90, available at Zara; Obey Adieu Suede Clutch, $50, available at Revolve Clothing.

That Bridesmaid's Dress — You know the one. It was perfectly acceptable for your friend's big day, but you've been having a hard time figuring out the right place to wear an Easter-egg-colored, floor-length dress with a gathered bosom.

The answer? Layer a longer-length vest on top, and cinch it in place with a wide belt. The addition of a few smart layers will prevent you from looking like a bridesmaid that got a little too creative with her outfit. Plus, you'll get some wear out of a dress you (probably) spent too much money on.
