How To Wear Sneakers At Work

Wearing sneakers to work is not appropriate for all office environments — yes, we know. And, we're incredibly fortunate to have a super-cool EIC who loves her sporty kicks just as much as her fancy designer heels, which makes run-of-the-mill trainers a welcome footwear option at R29 HQ.

So, after we published this work-friendly sneaker roundup and saw all of our readers' comments, we took the story a step further. We thought a lot about the business-casual dress code — like the power suit and the pencil skirt — and how we'd integrate sneakers into those 9-to-5 staples without taking you into high-fashion overdrive. Yep, you asked, and we answered! The result is five work-perfect outfits that won't make you stick out like a sore thumb or kill your arches — taking you through the week in comfort and style. And, that's something we can all appreciate — fashion editor, financial analyst, and so on.

Up ahead, you'll find a two-piece suit, a wide-legged pant, a pencil skirt, a printed trouser, and a midi-dress paired with high-tops, slip-ons, and more. While we'd likely ditch the kicks for an important company meeting or a business lunch, we'd argue that these ensembles are every bit as polished and put-together as they would be teamed with heels or ballet flats. You be the judge, and tell us: Would you wear these getups at your job?
