Was Brittany Murphy Poisoned? The Saga Continues

On Monday, news broke that Brittany Murphy's father Angelo Bertolotti was — and is — alleging that the actress was poisoned. Her death in 2009 was ruled by the Los Angeles County Coroner as the result of pneumonia and anemia, caused in part by a weakened immune system due to a mix of prescription drugs. Many speculated that there may have been illicit drug use involved, but no such thing has been confirmed.
Bertolotti, who was not listed as the biological father on Murphy's death certificate due to family strife, told ABC News in an interview Tuesday morning that he has "a feeling that there was a definite murder situation here." Acting, it seems, on a hunch, he ordered further testing of her remains from an independent laboratory. The results indicated, according to ABC, "ten (10) heavy metals at levels above the WHO high levels recommendation. If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent."

Murphy's husband died five months later, of the same causes, though his remains have not been involved in Bertolotti's efforts. A representative of the LAPD would not offer comment, only stating that "the coroner made the determination and until that's overturned, it's on them."
