If you're thinking about going natural but are scared to hack off your locks or be stuck wearing the same 'do day in and day out, we're here to put those fears to rest. Going natural has experienced a powerful resurgence of late, with our model, interior designer Danielle Arps, as one of thousands who joined the chemical-free movement.
"I didn't like the idea of having chemicals in my hair and I didn't want to go to the salon to get it done every three weeks," she says. And, while she does like her natural texture, she rarely wears it down. "My natural texture is super-coily and gets tangled easily, so I don't know what to do with it," she admits. "If I don't blow it out, I usually put it in two braids."
To let that natural texture shine, we called upon the powers of hairstylist Kyra Dorman, who promises that you can control frizz without tucking it away in to a bun. "I find that natural hair is a cinch to style — you just need a couple bobby pins for a chic 'do," she says. "Since the hair is malleable, there are so many hairstyles you can do to work with
the texture instead of against it."
We found styles that not only do just that, but showcase your hair in all of its natural, textured glory. So, if you're thinking about going natural or you already love your textured tresses sans chemicals — but resort to wearing pigtails every day — we've got four seriously rad 'dos that'll rock your world. These easy DIY styles are as cute as they are cool — naturally.
