The world is yours...or, rather, Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi's. Speaking backstage after the duo's spring '14 show, Thornton cited Miami as the inspiration for this season. Thanks to an invigorating infusion of fluoro pink, the effect was less Will Smith and more Sonny Crockett with a splash of Scarface.
Decked out in retro sunglasses and Sophia Webster stilettos with vinyl neon straps, models donned candy-coloured fabrics that were as glossy as their dewy skin. White, powder-blue, and bubblegum-pink dresses cast a shimmery sheen, while oversized foil anoraks were stamped in floral prints.
Speaking of which, Preen's signature digital prints were, of course, present. The pixelated images were a fitting complement to the angular cuts and asymmetrical, fang-like hems, though an abundance of sheer underlays softened the effect.
Presented against the glossy-white walls of the Natural History Museum's Darwin Centre, the vibrant, poppy collection hit all the right notes. With Preen fan Olivia Palermo nodding approvingly from the front row, these summery creations seem destined for the runway...and Miami Beach.
