Hot Dog, Hot Dog Open Reception
Although the title may be misleading, this is not a hot dog eating competition. It is however, a wonderful collaboration dedicated to classically amusing characters and good old pop culture. Artists Justin Hager and Kristine Reano worked together (literally, painting at the same time) to create the works of art that you will be smirking about for days! The left-handed Hager and right-handed Reano found it even more fun to create the works completely together, incorporating all kinds of found objects. The nice people over at Four Barrel Coffee will be hosting the artists so join them and all their illustrated personalities for an evening of good times.
When: Thursday, September 5, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Four Barrel Coffee, 375 Valencia Street (between 14th and 15th streets); 415-896-4289.
Film Night In The Park, Moonrise Kingdom
If any movie seems fit for an evening park viewing, Moonrise Kingdom is it. You may have been guilty of over-watching this flick when it first came out (we know we are!), but it never hurts to indulge in a favorite. Cuddle up beneath the night sky, perhaps with an irish coffee in hand. You can thank Wes Anderson for the perfect and free date night later (donations are appreciated), but for the moment, soak up the adorable adventures of the youthful budding romance at hand. It may be one of the last dusks of summer, so getting the full experience is kind of necessary. Pack and picnic and throw down some blankets for this one, it's time to get cozy!
When: Saturday, September 7, 8 to 10:30 p.m.
