Time to Channel Your Inner D.I.Y Guru
Just because we check the time on our iPhones doesn't mean we don't appreciate a nice watch. But, if the tickers on the market haven't been tickling your fancy, La Mer Collections can remedy that. At the brand's pop cart at The Grove on Thursday, you'll be able to customize your very own watch — and enjoy 25% off to boot. The event will be hosted by bloggers Walk in Wonderland and Honey & Silk.
When: Thursday, August 22, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: The Grove, 189 The Grove Drive (near West 3rd Street); 323-900-8080.
A Camping-Inspired Shopping Shindig
This Friday, The Loved One in Pasadena is bringing together all the stuff you like about camping, sans the actual camping outdoors part. Seychelles, BC Footwear, and Dear Creatures have teamed up to host a party at the store, including mini s'mores, campfire-inspired cocktails, and a woodland creatures photo booth. And, it's all going down during the five-day sale; sounds like a better deal than the whole no electricity-in-the-wilderness thing, to us!
When: Friday, August 23, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: The Loved One, 2 East Holly Street (near Fair Oaks Avenue); 626-304-0009.
Fete This New Urban Outfitters Location
In celebration of Urban Outfitter's new Malibu store, the retailer is pairing up with Converse to host a fun party at the new outpost. There'll be performances by Bleached and Dum Dum Girls, plus plenty of food trucks to keep you fueled. Come hungry!
When: Saturday, August 24, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Urban Outfitters Malibu, 3806 Cross Creek Road (near Pacific Coast Highway); 310-394-1404.
A Top-Notch Beach Volleyball Tournament
Come Friday, Manhattan Beach will be infiltrated with taller, even more attractive people than the area is usually populated with. The reason? The Manhattan Beach Open, a beach volleyball tournament now in its 53rd year. Watch Olympians and world-class players like Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Sean Rosenthal compete for the top title at the scenic locale.
When: Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25
Where: Manhattan Beach Pier, Ocean Drive (at Manhattan Beach Boulevard); no phone.

If you're a fan of dreamy pop tunes, we highly recommend catching this Montreal-based twosome live.
