Is it seriously the end of July already? We’ll be waving hello to August again in just a couple of days, and to keep your record books nice and full for the month, we’ve rounded up the last must-know gossip that’s circulating around town. From a new HBO drama to be filmed in our streets to a hot new boutique opening, see why July saved the best tidbits for last.
Yesterday, Woody Allen’s much-anticipated S.F.-centered film, Blue Jasmine, debuted in select cities. And, the critics are already singing its praises. The New Republic calls it his best film yet — read the full review to find out why. (The New Republic)
Woody Allen seems to have set the trend with pointing the camera in S.F.’s direction. HBO will be filming a new drama focused on three gay friends living in our neck of the woods. If you don’t have TiVo yet, now’s the time to get it! (The Bold Italic)
Okay — we all know it can be insanely difficult to score a reservation at a cult-followed resto, but S.F. techies are taking matters into their own hands mouses. A group of digital schwindlers is creating bots that are infiltrating State Bird Provisions’ reservation system, making ressies for other folks impossible. Not fair! (Eater SF)
While we recently revealed our list of S.F.’s top 30 Under 30, and threw a hot fête in their names, Zagat has followed suit with a similar list — this one featuring the Bay’s top chefs. Eat up the full lineup and tell us if you’re satisfied. (Zagat)
Looks like New York doesn’t get to have all the fashion fun! Its high-end boutique, Scoop NYC, is setting up shop in Union Square with plans to open this August. Our plastics will be on standby in the meantime. (Racked)
