Canoe Workshop
Like wine, leather never fails to age with grace and style. So, learning to work the material to create something beautiful and functional could never hurt a crafty gal like you! Natalie Davis of the Austin brand Canoe will be swinging through our sloping city to teach her enviable skills. With a collection of trinket-sized innovations in tow, this leather slayer knows how to turn out the goods. Posting up at General Store, Davis will unfold secrets of the trade and is willing to share her signature style so that you, too, can take on the material that has such a rich history. Using techniques such as tooling, dye-resisting, and leather-burning, expect to see pieces come to life right before your eyes.
When: Saturday, July 27, 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: General Store, 4035 Judah Street (between 45th and 46th avenues); 415-682-0600.
Three Babes Bakeshop and Burritt Room and Tavern's Pie And Cocktail Pairing

If you want to get in on the fun, but can't stay and chat, confections will be available to take on the run.

Virgil's Sea Room Patio Bash
There is something about the word patio that sends any San Franciscan into a state of dreamy-eyed bliss. Well, lucky for us, they seem to be popping up on the reg, with Virgil's Sea Room being one of our go-to's. The Mission spot is inviting Hella Vegan Eats and The Bold Italic for a can't-miss pop-up this Friday. There, you could win the Kelly Malone tote giveaway, pose for snaps in the Shot In The City photo booth, and sip on refreshing libations with your peeps.
When: Friday, July 26, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: Virgil's Sea Room, 3152 Mission Street (between Fair and Powers avenues); 415-829-2233.
Phoenix Hotel Mixology Event
You and some friends, a luminous Sunday afternoon, just lounging by the pool. Sound too perfect? That's what's going down at the Phoenix Hotel's annual mixology celebration this weekend, all reminiscent of a '60s pool party. We suggest you turn your phone on silent, and prepare for a mental vacation, while you slip into a haze of fresh cocktails and beats by names like Mackswell, KingMost, Daneekah, and Carlito.
When: Sunday, July 28, 1 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: The Phoenix Hotel, 601 Eddy Street (at Larkin Street); 415-776-1380.
Jazz And Poetry at the de Young
Our little bustling Bay is full of history from edge to edge, and the art scene has always been full a heavy hitters. This Friday, the two are coming together for this soulful shindig. Join the de Young Museum to celebrate the colorful world of jazz and poetry with some local cool cats like George Brooks, Rob Wasserman, and Michael McClure as they show off their talents, which let us say, come in bulk. Allow them to take you back to the '50s and '60s to a little place called Berkeley where they really knew how to get a party started! If you feel like taking a wander, there will be many other culturally rich festivities around every corner of the museum.
When: Friday, July 26, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Wisley Court at the de Young Museum, 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive (at John F. Kennedy Drive); 415-750-3600.
