5 Can’t-Miss Rock Shows This Week

Twin Tigers at The Empty Bottle, 4/25, $8. If you're interested in indie rock that's got a low-fi sound without even a hint of candy-ass, we've got a band for you. Twin Tigers aren't shy and don't hold back. Bonus: They're playing with local band Brontosaurus, who just made a run down to Austin during SXSW.
The Empty Bottle, (at West Cortez Street) 1035 North Western Avenue; 773-276-3600.

Foals at The Metro 4/26, $20. [Insert shameless adoration for cute British boys here.] Synthy-pop music-makers from across the pond come to tickle our ears on Tuesday night. There's enough intricate guitar to squash the snide comments of indie rock purists, but enough electro-driven danciness to get you on your feet.
The Metro, 3730 North Clark Street (at Waveland Avenue); 773-549-4140.

Gobble Gobble at Scubas, 4/27, $10. Gobble Gobble is pop for people who don't like pop music. If a musician can take a well-known music genre and elevate it into something just as fun but not nearly as annoying, Cecil Frena has done it. Go, have fun.
Schubas, 3159 North Southport Avenue (at Belmont Avenue); 773-525-2508.

Mannequin Men at The Empty Botte, 4/30, $8
. It's going to be a Chicago rock kind of Saturday night. Grab a date, grab a friend, and grab a P.B.R. Mannequin Men are the Chicago rock band that feeds the huge void in our souls for no-holding-back rock. It's loud, gritty, piss-off-your parents music at it's finest.
The Empty Bottle, (at West Cortez Street) 1035 North Western Avenue; 773-276-3600.

Battles at Lincoln Hall, 4/30, $15
. Pay attention, this might get a little weird. Battles make beats move in every direction but sanity, and your ears may even be fooled into thinking the music is moving backwards. One thing is for sure, we can't wait to see how this crazy, beat-rock mashup comes to fruition in a live show.
Lincoln Hall, 2424 North Lincoln Avenue (at Fullerton Avenue and Halsted Street); 773-525-2501.
