You might have guessed that Alexander Wang would be too busy busting out his second collection as Balenciaga's creative director to work on his own eponymous label, but no ma'am! Wang's newest resort '14 lookbook is as exciting and lovable as his oh-so-memorable skip down the runway.
Boxy silhouettes and a predominantly neutral color palette make Wang's work reminiscent of collections past, yet surprising structural elements and a hard-to-miss pop of pink exhibit a completely fresh take. No more oversized coats and chunky knit sweaters — this season is all about thinning things out. Sleek leather jackets, skirt-suits, and trousers provide flat lines and body-skimming shapes. The batwing-sleeved leather dress even seems like air is being sucked out from the inside, achieving a near concave look.
And, of course, there's the Pepto-Bismol-bubblegum — what a flavor! — shade that saturates skirts, pants, and tops alike. Pair that with his perfectly pleated dresses, textured knits, and white-hot accessories and you've got a healthy dose of sweetness reminding us that Wang can, in fact, do it all.
