. Make no mistake, barbecue — the southern American-derived art of slow-cooking meat over a pit or smoker to preserve its tenderness — isn’t new to the city. Londoners have long been sinking their teeth into tender ribs slathered in barbeque sauce at the likes of The Big Easy (a Kings Road institution) for over 20 years.
But something’s changed of late. Meat is back in vogue. Like its namesake ribs, BBQ has been a slow burner — after all, Yianni Papoutsis has been making meat sweats cool with his MEAT brand since 2009 (just take a look at the queue outside MEATliquor if you don’t believe us). But, when restaurateur Richard Turner (he of Hawksmoor and Pitt Cue Co.) decides to transplant Meatopia, America’s biggest meat festival, to the Big Smoke, we knew meat had gotten seriously
