Amp Up Your Week's Agenda With These 7 Rad Shindigs

Just because the fog is rolling in, doesn't mean all the fun is rolling out. In fact, we suggest taking cover under your coziest gear and heading out to this stellar lineup of shindigs! Whether you've been needing a spa day or itching for some celeb designed T-shirts, these five rad events are giving boredom the cold shoulder!
Stork Skin Therapy Grand Opening
When dark spots, blemishes, and patches appear on our complexions, we often wish a stork would drop us off some baby-soft skin. Well, with the launch of Stork Skin Therapy in the Mission, we just got our wish! The full-service spa launches this Thursday, and is celebrating its debut with nibbles, giveaways, and discounts all night long. We can't think of a better way to brighten up our week.
Where: Thursday, May 16, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Stork Skin Therapy, 3520 20th Street, Suite C (between Mission and Valencia streets); 415-864-0447.
MishiPot Microhood Party
Thursday is shaping up to be a lively night in the Mission. The Bold Italic has crowned the streets between Mariposa and 21st as its latest microhood, dubbed the MishiPot. Shops and eateries in the heart of the newly labeled strip will be rejoicing with special shindigs, including a trunk show at Heath Ceramics and discounts at American Grilled Cheese Kitchen. Do not miss mish out on the block party fun!
When: Thursday, May 16, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: At 19th and Bryant streets.
Uniqlo UT Launch
What do Uniqlo and Harry Potter have in common? Moving photos, of course! The fashion company has developed a UT camera app that records video and turns the recordings into photographs for a seriously magical effect. To push the envelope even further, Uniqlo created an accompanying line of T-shirts, collaborating with the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat for its designs. Head out to the launch event to get your hands on the goods and peep live screen-printing by San Franpsycho. Snap to it!
When: Thursday, May 16, 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Uniqlo, 111 Powell Street (between O'Farrell and Ellis streets); 877-486-4756.
Melissa Fleis Fashion Show
You've seen her thrive under the pressure of "making it work" on Project Runway, and now you can see designer Melissa Fleis' creations in the flesh this Friday! The Academy of Art alum's showstopping, all black collection is a sight to be seen — the show starts at 6 p.m. sharp, so don't even think about being fashionably late!
When: Friday, May 17, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: The NWBLK, 199 Bryant Street (at Beale Street); 415-621-2344.
ArtPad S.F.
Before you write off all art fairs as a place for amateur street artists, take note that ArtPad S.F. is almost its antithesis. Going down at the Phoenix Hotel, ArtPad S.F. features art galleries in a luxe environment. Over 40 hotel suites will be cleared out to make way for an impressive lineup of performances, video screenings, and installations from fresh-on-the-scene artists. Now that's what we call room service!
When: Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19, noon to 8 p.m.
Where: Phoenix Hotel, 601 Eddy Street (between Larkin and Polk streets); 415-776-1380.
Cost: $15 to $35; buy tickets here!
Go See The World Party
When we jet-off for a much-needed vacay, it goes without saying that our resort-perfect ensembles are as much of a priority as getting that R&R. Making sure we don’t look like an awkward fish out of water is travel editor Katie Cornell of Via and Diablo magazines. She'll be stopping by Convert this Saturday to help you pack that satorially savvy suitcase. Bon voyage!
When: Saturday, May 18, 1 to 5 p.m.
Where: Convert, 1809b 4th Street (between Hearst and Virgina streets); 510-649-9759.
Gilt City Warehouse Sale
Ever been psyched for a sale, only to find that the selection is utterly rinky-dink? Well, that won’t be the case at this Saturday’s Gilt City Warehouse sale! Not only will men’s, women’s, and children’s fashions be available by the armloads, but home décor is up for grabs, too! All that shopping and saving is bound to work up an appetite, and you can recharge with the bounty of food suppliers on the scene, including Vita Coco water.
When: Saturday, May 18, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: The Sutter Room, 1270 Sutter Street (at Van Ness Street); No phone.
Cost:: $10; buy tickets here!
