Considering the charming, cheeky quilting that made her spring '13 collection pop, NYC designer Kelsy Carleen is taking a whole new route this season. And we, for one, are certainly ready to follow her lead. The latest looks from the Carleen fall '13 collection are a refreshing shift to a more sleek, minimal line. Instead of allowing patterns and patchwork to take center stage, the designs are actually earning our accolades for their precise tailoring and shapely silhouettes. Colors are blocked, skirts bell out, and tunics meet their match in coordinating skinny pants — a new take on co-ords that we'll look forward to test-driving this fall.
But it's not only the new designs that are making us flip through the new collection by the former Rachel Antonoff assistant again and again. Carleen knows how to package her collection in a way that feels cohesive, like a complete handbook of the new shapes we should be wearing come autumn. Plus, in a dream world, we'd be rocking them all with a curly, cushion-y, perfectly mussed up 'do of red locks, too. Hey, we can dream.
