Free People Festival Styling Session
Ever wonder how those Free People models get those gorgeously styled locks? Well, consider the mystery solved at the hippie-chic line’s mane styling soirée! All of the Bay Area locations will be hosting a festival-hairstyle tutorial party, so we can learn how to twist our tresses into an envy-inducing floral crown. Once you do the ’do, then you can indulge in the shindig’s sweet nibbles.
When: Thursday, May 2, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Free People, 1540 Olympic Boulevard (at South Main Street); 925-952-8426.
Cinderella Opening Night Ball
Like the fairytale heroine, we’re all about getting dressed up and heading to the ball, sans the pumpkin carriage, of course. And this Friday, we can set our sights on the debut of the latest ballet, Cinderella, at its opening night ball. And to potentially meet your prince charming, head to the production’s after-party that will host an open bar, live DJ, and decadent desserts. Unlike the storybook, you can party way past midnight without a hitch.
When: Friday, May 3. Performance: 8 p.m. After-party: 10 p.m.
Where: War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness Avenue (at Grove Street); 415-861-5600.
Tickets: $38 to $125; Buy here!
All Things Artisanal For The Desktop Pop-Up
While there are plenty of pop-ups around the city that cater to our closets, now there’s one for where we find ourselves the most: our work space. Parisian shop La Boutique L’Art et la Mode has teamed up with Handful of Salt to bring us artisanally crafted goods to help us get the job done in style. From handcrafted pens to desks, everything you need for a hard enjoyable day’s work will be at the ready. And, after scooping up the nifty tools, we have a feeling you’ll be a lot less eager to clock out.
When: Friday, May 3, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: La Boutique L’Art et la Mode, 414 Jackson Street (at Sansome Street); 415-693-9950.
Second Annual Kentucky Derby Party
The Kentucky Derby is no longer just for fascinator-donning celebs, thanks to this upcoming shindig. At Starlight Room’s second annual Kentucky Derby party, we can channel our inner Southern Belles and indulge in unlimited mint juleps, cut a rug to bluegrass tunes, and chow down to our heart’s content on Kentucky-inspired buffet fare.
When: Saturday, May 4, 1 to 4 p.m.
Where: Starlight Room, 450 Powell Street (at Sutter Street); 415-395-8595.
Tickets: $50; Buy 'em here!
SF Ballet Encore
If the Cinderella Ball leaves you craving more ballet soirées, then Freda Salvador has you covered. The stepper shop is hosting a S.F. Ballet Encore catered for us to learn more about the awe-inducing dance form presented by the Encore Group. And, once surrounded by the line’s pretty pairs, you’ll forget all about the glass slipper.
When: Wednesday, May 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Freda Salvador, 1782 Union Street (at Octavia Street); 415-654-5128.
