We hope you dug up some comfy kicks while spring cleaning this past weekend, because this week's agenda is pretty much standing room only. With the slew of art exhibits popping up all over town, your feet are about to get a major workout!
Local Talent Takes The Stage At This One-Night Affair
We love a live performance as much as the next art-obsessed chick, but making the pilgrimage to Provincetown, Massachusetts for The Afterglow Festival can be tricky. So, we're thanking our lucky stars that the benefit variety show has made its way west. Plenty of talent will be on deck for this $20 (tax-deductible!) happening, including a spot-on Chloë Sevigny impersonator.
When: Tuesday, March 26, 8 p.m.
Where: First & Hope, 710 West 1st Street (at Hope Street); 213-617-8555.
A Fashion Conversation That The Style-Minded Shouldn't Miss
As a member of the Antwerp Six, Walter Van Beirendonck's fashion career is extraordinary. The iconoclastic Belgian designer, along with his right-hand man and graphic whiz Paul Boudens (who has also collaborated with Dries Van Noten, Olivier Theyskens, Yohji Yamamoto, and Haider Ackermann), will join LACMA's Costume and Textiles Curator, Kaye Spilker, in a conversation on the creation, reinterpretation, and presentation of fashion. Which begs the question: What does one wear to such a stylish sit-down?
When: Wednesday, March 27, 7 p.m.
Where: Bing Theater at LACMA, 5905 Wilshire Boulevard (at South Fairfax Avenue); 323-857-6000.
It's Only Rock 'N Roll (But We Love It!)
Okay, so you won't be seeing The Stones next month at Coachella, but you can still get your fix via Project Gallery's newest exhibit: 50 Years of the Rolling Stones. Located in the heart of Hollywood, the show will boast intimate and never-before-seen snaps of music's biggest bad boys. Come to the opening reception and rock out with fellow fans — for that extra jolt, grab a cup of joe from the top-notch espresso bar.
When: Thursday, March 28, 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Project Gallery, 1553 North Cahuenga Boulevard (at Selma Avenue); 323-462-1100.
PBR And Cheap Monday Make For An Awesome Saturday Night
What's better than cheap beer? How about cheap beer and killer-denim duds on a Saturday night? That's right — PBR and Cheap Monday are teaming up to showcase a slew of local artists at one of our fave dive bars in town. In order to win $200, just submit your own fusion-art piece inspired by both the infamous beer can and the Swedish fashion house’s skull motif. Stop by the celebration this weekend to check out the exhibit and indulge in the awesomeness that is brews and blue jeans.
When: Saturday, March 30, 9 p.m.
Where: Footsie’s Bar, 2640 North Figueroa Street (at West Avenue 28); 323-221-6900.
Aïda Ruilova’s First SoCal Exhibit Has Us Anticipating Round Two

While you're there, don't miss the premiere of a new video work with the film director Abel Ferrara and a series of drawings rendered on erotic Emmanuelle movie posters. Never in our raciest dreams did we think this week would be filled with such amazing art-centric activities!
When: Now through Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Mondays.
Where: Kayne Griffin Corcoran, 2902 Nebraska Avenue (near Stewart Street); 310-586-6886.
