It may be the first day of spring, but for those of us not so blessed with sun and shine (read: everyone not living in the Southwest or Florida), we have just the visual treat to warm things up. West Elm's '13 summer collection launched Tuesday, and with it, an island treasure trove of prints, florals, and colors we've come to associate with the steamiest season of the year.
But, make no mistake — this isn't your cliché collection of summer fun. Instead of bold brights, we get more subdued hues — think lotus pinks and indigo blues...more Montauk than Rio, more hanging out, hammock-style, than raging hard on a rooftop. The vibe is decidedly serene and laid-back but still vibrant enough to cheer up any winter blahs. With mosaic patio tables and nautical stripes, we see visions of crop-top weather, beach jaunts, and cocktails aplenty...even if it is just 34 degrees outside.
