main Bummed you’re missing all the action at SXSW? Don’t be! We’ve found five stellar shindigs that will make for an awesome staycation. Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty in clay or craving some outdoorsy games, our lineup proves you don’t have to be in the Lone Star State to have a ballsy-good time this week.

Paolo Troilo Art Exhibit Opening
If you’re an Italophile that loves the culture beyond its affogato, then this new gallery exhibit is for you. Contemporary Italian artist Paolo Troilo has decided to make San Francisco his first U.S. destination for displaying an unbelievable collection of finger-painted, brushless work. Besides the art, you can view video of the designer in action. We had a feeling digit-al art would be the next great thing!
When: Wednesday, March 13, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Coup d'Etat, 111 Rhode Island Street (at Alameda Street); 415-241-9300.

Alite Pop-Up Shop
With daylight savings sparing us an extra hour of sunlight this week, we admit that playing hooky seems all too tempting. But we can’t bask in those rays without the appropriate sick-day gear, right? That’s where Alite Designs' Pop-Up Shop comes into play — literally! The brand has created a “Bike to the Beach” bag and a leather water bottle holder, and we can't wait to scoop ’em up this Thursday. Once you’ve scored the appropriate goods, start practicing that fake cough and get out of dodge!
When: Thursday, March 14, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Voyager, 365 Valencia Street (between 14th and 15th Streets); 415-800-3527.

Ian Ross Gallery Grand Opening
When it comes to art exhibits in the city, our mantra is there can never be too many. That’s why we’re stoked that SoMa is opening a space for us to ogle Facebook’s former resident artist, Ian Ross' dazzling new works. Head out to the grand opening this Friday, and see his solo show that speaks to love and addiction. A fitting theme, since we have a feeling this new gallery will be our next crush — and vice.
When: Friday, March 15, 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Ian Ross Gallery, 466 Brannan Street (at 4th Street); 415-533-5758.

Tarot: Art of Fortune Exhibit
In case the above gallery opening has you craving even more visual stimulation, Modern Eden Gallery is here to help. The space’s latest exhibition is an entire compilation of tarot card-inspired pieces, created by over 70 different artists. Sectioned by subject — cups, pentacles, swords, and wands — the gallery’s walls will be completely decked out. (Sorry, we couldn’t help it!) If you wind up falling in love with a piece, just blame it on fate.
When: Saturday, March 16, 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Modern Eden Gallery, 403 Francisco Street (at Powell Street); 415-956-3303.

Life Pies Workshop
Sure, we the know the premise in Life Of Pi, but we’ve found a fun way to take the story literally. At Gravel & Gold’s latest workshop, Life Pies, we can whip up a ceramic pie using our life experiences as ingredients. Don’t worry, actual delicious pie — along with some vino — will be served at the end of the workshop, too. Events like this prove that there are story book endings, after all.
When: Sunday, March 17, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Gravel & Gold, 3266 21st Street (at Lexington Street); 415-552-0112.
Cost: $35.
