Keds X Madewell Collection Launch
In this hill-tastic city, you know we’re all about trekking in some comfy kicks. But that doesn’t mean any ol’ sneakers will do the trick. That’s why we’re psyched about the latest Keds collaboration with J.Crew sister shop, Madewell. Head to the celebratory shoe launch this Thursday to get first dibs on the pretty pairs. Steep slopes, meet your sartorial match!
When: Thursday, February 28, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Madewell, 845 Market Street (between 4th and 5th streets); 415-644-0748.
Jo Boyer Opening Reception
While art galleries are supposed to inspire insightful ideas, this upcoming exhibit by Jo Boyer will spark some seriously profound concepts. The artist’s raven and pod figurines, on display at Rare Device, represent abstract notions such as movement, transformation, and time. Wowza! Get ready to have your mind blown at the opening reception this Friday, and experience a little transformation of your own.
When: Friday, March 1, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Rare Device, 600 Divisadero Street (at Hayes Street); 415-863-3969.
Flashback Friday Party
Ever regret skipping out on scooping up a piece of insanely good artwork? Well, then this upcoming shindig is for you! Modern Eden Gallery is hosting a one-day-only event where us procrastinators can purchase previously exhibited artwork. And this time, stalling is paying off — literally! — as the pieces will be on sale for 25% off. Don’t expect a dry, auction-like vibe, either. There'll be jammin’ tunes, nibbles, and tasty libations.
When: Friday, March 1, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Modern Eden Gallery, 403 Francisco Street (at Powell Street); 415-956-3303.
Atelier Emmanuel Hair Exhibition
We admit, it’s pretty easy to fall into a lazy rut with our locks. Helping us out is Atelier Emmanuel's latest fête, co-hosted by Elle magazine and Wella hair products. There, we get to see the salon’s latest mane inspirations and how-to guides to mimic the looks at home. Once you’ve secured an envy-inducing style, you’re ready to munch on the bites, sip back the champers, and watch the event’s runway show! Don’t be surprised if you start to feel like a total lock star.
When: Thursday, February 28, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Atelier Emmanuel, 415 Stockton Street 4th Floor, (at Sutter Street); 415-362-8063.
Unplug S.F.
Between clicking away at the office, uploading on Instagram, and queing it up on Netflix, we’re constantly logged into one device or another. To give our eyes (and thumbs!) a rest, Digital Detox is unplugging the city at this gadget-banned bash. Check your beloved smartphone and tablet at the door, and then go wild at the event’s bevy of rad activities, including a massage and tea lounge, board games, and bracelet-making station. Consider it playing words with friends the old-fashioned way.
When: Friday, March 1, 7 p.m. to midnight
Where: Inner Mission SF, 2050 Bryant Street (between 18th and 19th streets); 415-590-2203.

The Factory Sip and Shop
There’s no denying it, mod ’60s factory-girl style is all the rage this season. And this fashion soirée is here to help you take on the trend quite literally. The S.F. design studio The Factory is hosting a night of shopping one-of-a-kind, made-in-the-Bay pieces. And when you drop a hundred big ones, expect to receive a free gift with your purchase. As if that won’t have us pumped up enough, a live DJ will be spinning tunes that we can dance to while balancing a glass of bubbly.
When: Thursday, February 28, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: The Factory, 370 4th Street (between Folsom and Harrison streets); 877-531-5225.
