Apparently Marios Schwab isn't the only London-based designer looking to the Old Masters for inspiration. For fall '13, the Peter Pilotto boys paid homage to El Greco with their latest batch of bold prints, here presented in invigorating tones of yellow, red, and colbalt.
Never ones to settle for solids, co-designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos delivered yet another round of optically intoxicating prints, presented as both painterly and hyper-graphic, with mermaid-like splits bisecting the hems of dresses and necklines just grazing the chin.
Softly rounded shoulders ran rampant, and provided a more feminine counterpoint to this season's sharp slashed "slape"-style sleeves and structural origami folds.
Plus, there's good news for those of us whose spirits were dampened by this winter's onslaught of snow. Come next year, we'll be ready to face the elements in the label's dolled-up puffer jackets boasting fur collars and frilly skirts that just graze the thigh. Eat your heart out, North Face.
