Florals for spring may be trite, but when all things summery become your primary inspiration for the autumn season, that's something different. For his fall '13 line, Thakoon punctuated his collection of typical fall fare — black separates, leopard-print coats, belted fur shawls — with florals, pastels, and other elements more common to spring.
Some references were delightfully explicit, with dragonfly decals, prints of blown-apart dandelions, and a dainty Swiss-dot lace taking the stuffiness out of tweeds, furs, and neoprenes (the loads of eye glitter and youthful stepped bangs didn't hurt either). After a weekend of slush, snow, and salt-stained shoes, a bit of summertime optimism was much appreciated.
