Random Royal Rumour Alert: Kate Middleton May Be Undergoing Hypnotherapy

kate-middleton
Is Kate Middleton getting very sleepy? A report in New Idea claims that the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge is trying to treat her hyperemesis gravidarum (that's acute morning sickness to me and you) by undergoing hypnotherapy. Guess that lavender shortbread wasn't doing the trick?
An "old friend" of Middleton's tells the Australian tabloid (yes, yes, we're taking it all with a giant lump of salt) that hypnosis is helping the mother-to-be have a more positive relationship with nutritional food after suffering severe bouts of nausea.
Whether that is actually the case remains to be seen. But while evidence about the effectiveness of hypnotherapy remains inconclusive, some practitioners claim it could help an expectant mother in Middleton's position.

"When someone is going through a trance with hypnosis, then you're kind of trying to change the way someone thinks about food," Dr. Tony Chon with the Mayo Clinic's Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program tells the Huffington Post. "Rather than saying you're going to get nauseaus, you're saying the food that you see from this point on is going to be very nutritious, it's going to be good-tasting, it's going to lead to a positive pregnancy."
Best of luck, K-Mid! (Huffington Post)
