Music Mania: Pump Up The Volume With Local Jams

Chicago, get ready to rock. There’s a slew of acts hitting local stages this weekend with a line-up that’s music to our ears — both literally and figuratively.

Tonight, grab your girls and get ready to dance — the best new cover band in town, Sushi Roll, makes its Chicago debut at McGee’s Tavern & Grille from 9 p.m. to midnight. Playing everything from Katy Perry to AC/DC, they’ll have you on your feet and singing along with every jam they crank out during their three-hour set.
McGee's Tavern & Grill, 950 West Webster Avenue (at Webster and Sheffield avenues); 773-549-8200.
Fest-lovers can relive the glory days of summer (at least in spirit!) with tix to the eighth annual Tomorrow Never Knows Festival (TNK) — a jam-packed roster of acts that will perform thanks to the partnership efforts of Schubas Tavern, Lincoln Hall, Metro, Smart Bar, The Hideout, and The Vic. Our picks for local faves? Friday night headliners Free Energy at Schubas Tavern, and Freelance Whales at Lincoln Hall on Saturday.
Schubas Tavern, 3159 North Southport Avenue (at Southport and Belmont avenues); 773-525-2508.
Lincoln Hall, 2424 North Lincoln Avenue (between Fullerton and Sheffield avenues); 773-525-2501.
Also on the docket? NYC-based rockers Spirit Animal, who are set to rock the house at The Whistler in Logan Square on Saturday night at 9:30 p.m.
The Whistler, 2421 North Milwaukee Avenue (between Fullerton and Sacramento avenues); 773-227-3530.
Sounds like the perfect weekend to us!
