Trainer: Jen Ottoson of Living Fit Chicago

Tip: Though she’s as sweet and friendly as they come, Ottoson believes that workouts should be more about the drills and less about the frills. “My favorite way to get in a workout is to join a boot camp or other workout that meets regularly and holds you accountable,” she says. “Our company has a 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. boot camp that meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week. If we have a camper that doesn’t show up, they get a call, a text, or an email asking them what happened. It keeps people accountable to their commitment.”

Takeaway: Sign up with a trainer who scares you a little bit. Would you get out of bed before the sun rises to meet a pushover in powder blue spandex? Thought not.

Living Fit Chicago hosts boot camps all over the city; contact Jen_Otto@yahoo.com for more information or find the class schedule here.
