The 5 Raddest Things To Do This Week In S.F.

main
For most of us, this may be the last week in San Francisco before jetsetting for the holidays. And there are plenty of fetes going down that are the perfect way to say farewell, even if we’re only gone a few days. Behold, the most stellar lineup of pre-Christmas festivities that will remind you why you left your hometown in the first place.

Kathy Kamei Trunk Show
Looking to add a little more razzle dazzle to your holiday ensembles? Cross the bridge over to Oakland for an exclusive holiday trunk show full of Kathy Kamei’s studded trinkets. McMullen boutique will be showcasing the designer’s rings, necklaces, and bangles that will make for the most sparkling stocking stuffers ever.
When: Wednesday, December 19, 2 to 7 p.m.
Where: McMullen, 1235 Grand Avenue (at Fairview Avenue), Oakland; 510-658-6906.
Awkward Family Christmas
Think you only have one awkward family Christmas this month? Think again! But this time, we bargain you’ll be more inclined to attend. R29 S.F.’s go-to beauty guru Katie Nash is heading up this mini-holiday rager with her makeup brushes in tow to give the gift of makeovers. Bring along your friends for an awkward snapshot pose-off at the event’s photo booth, plus free booze, bites, and tunes. Just don’t be too upset if your crew ends up winning all the raffle prizes, including goods by Freda Salvador, Benefit Cosmetics, and Pams and Kin. Proceeds go to Nuru International, an organization fighting extreme poverty.
When: Wednesday, December 19, 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Atelier Emmanuel, 415 Stockton Street, 4th Floor (at Sutter Street); 415-362-8063.
Price: $15 advance, $20 at the door; RSVP here.
Modern Vice Shoe Launch
A flock of New York’s sartorialists are crashing our beloved Rand + Statler for a can’t-miss stylish soirée. The fashion capital’s rad footwear line Modern Vice will be presenting its steppers for us to walk those pesky hills. And our favorite off-duty blogger, Natalie Saurez, will be on the scene to show off her pretty pair of crimson booties that she designed with the brand. Attending this shindig practically guarantees you’ll walk away with some happy feet (and some visitors will get completely free pairs of kicks!).
When: Thursday December 20, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Rand + Statler, 425 Hayes Street (at Gough Street); 415-634-0881.
Diamond Doomsday Party
You could prepare for those doomsday predictions by frantically stocking up on survival essentials, but we’d rather go out like total rock stars. Fiat Lux is helping us achieve that goal by hosting its second-annual Diamond Doomsday party. So, stop analyzing the Mayan calendar and head to the shop for its selection of larger-than-life, conflict-free diamonds. And if your boo decides to put a ring on it come the last day on Earth, we say better late than never!
When: Friday, December 21, 7 to 11 p.m.
Where: Fiat Lux, 218 Church Street (at Market Street); 415-312-8413.
Harputs Holiday Extravaganza
We already know that Harputs' Jennifer Waight has an envy-inducing beauty routine, so we imagine the shop’s latest bash will be just as glam. The sartorial destination full of avant-garde merch is hosting a holiday extravaganza for us to get our fashion fix before possibly unwrapping some not-so-stylish wares under the tree.
When: Friday, December 21, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Harputs, 80 Geary Street (at Grant Avenue); 415-392-2222.
