Hit Up These Mega-Cool Events This Week — Rain Or Shine!

main Sure, our Indian Summer may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean all the fun has left with it. In fact, we’ve found a slew of rad happenings going down this week that you’ll want to attend no matter how many raindrops hit the pavement. From a getaway shopping excursion to a British spin on S.F. style, these events will add plenty of shine to our agendas.

Treasure Island Flea Market
If all the excitement of the Treasure Island Music Festival left you itching to get back to the island, then here’s your chance! This year’s Treasure Island Flea is back and this time it has a spooky spin. Whip out your Halloween getup early for the market's costume party that lets you peruse vendors' goodies and possibly scare them into cutting some deals (we hope!). And tell the kiddos to bring along their plastic pumpkin bins and fill them up by tricking or treating at each shop. Then, tap into your tender side by taking part in the flea’s canned-food drive. This event is all treat and no trick, so take a gander at the deets below.
When: Saturday, October 27 and Sunday October 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Treasure Island, Great Lawn

California Dreamin’ Exhibit
When out and about in San Francisco, sometimes living in California feels like a dream we never want to wake up from. Tapping into the same principle is Parisian artist Guillaume Grasset, who set out to live the American dream in our golden state. So, instead of taking days to see the California sights, Grasset’s latest exhibit has all the breathtaking coastal highlights on display. The photography works, that we get to see at the exhibit’s opening reception this Friday, feature views of our state’s landscapes, all the way from Laguna Beach to the Salton Sea. Needless to say, these photos are bound to make us snap-happy.
When: Friday, October 26, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Carte Blanche Gallery, 973 Valencia Street (between Liberty and 21st streets); 415-821-1055.

Crown Nine Hammering and Stamping Workshop
There’s no doubt that we like to “oooh” and “aah” at some ornately crafted gems, but nothing could impress us more than actually learning the tricks of the jewelry-making trade ourselves. And we get to have our chance at Crown Nine’s hammering and stamping workshop, which teaches the ancient technique of manipulating sheet and wire materials. At the crash course, expect to walk away donning a custom-detailed bauble that you hammered with stamp designs, letters, or phrases. And if you want to construct more pretty pieces post-course, Crown Nine will let you in on where to find jewelry supplies locally. Ready to get into heavy metal? Scour the info below and lock yourself into the class.
When: Saturday, October 27, 3 to 6 p.m.
Where: Crown Nine, 461 Suite A 9th Street (at Bryant Street); 510-507-0789.

Susan G. Komen Fundraiser and Kick-Off Party
We don’t necessarily need any convincing to help out the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation, but a little extra incentive never hurts. Starting this Thursday, when you donate $65 for a Komen Card, you get to give and receive. Just flash your Komen Card to any participating Union Square shop — including Harputs, Azadeh, and more — and receive 20% off your purchase! And there’s no doubt that a stellar exchange such as this deserves its own kick-off party. Show up to Harput’s Own this Thursday and clink glasses at the endless vodka bar and then munch on its selection of mouth-watering, food-truck fare.
When: Thursday, October 25, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Harput's Own, 80 Geary Street (at Grant Avenue); 415-392-2222.

Kurt Geiger: London Hosts An S.F. Style Soiree
We already know that San Francisco is quickly becoming a focus point on the sartorial map, with Uniqlo opening its first West Coast store here and all. But bringing that point home (literally!) is this latest fashion shindig. The U.K.-based shoe cobbler Kurt Geiger is hosting a night devoted to San Francisco style where we get to celebrate our awesome industries. From a panel featuring S.F. big shots to overflowing glasses of cocktails concocted by 15 Romolo, this soirée would be hard to pass up. Not that we plan on trying.
When: Thursday, October 25, 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna Street (at 2nd Street); 415-974-1719.
