5 Things To Do This Week In L.A.

Between DKNY's stylish soirées and Elyse Walker's Pink Party, this week's already looking to be all sorts of fabulous. In addition to those fashionable get-togethers, we'll be visiting LACMA for the museum's new photo exhibit, and heading to Hollywood Bowl for a Bob Dylan performance, ending the week on a high note (although his voice is very deep these days!). Oh, and did we mention that there's a new truck in town? The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is visiting L.A. for a few brief days, so make sure to get your scoops in before they're gone for good!

Prepare To Be Amazed By Mapplethorpe
Sure, the entrance to LACMA's latest photo exhibit reads, "may not be suitable for all audiences," but don't let that discourage you from viewing the thought-provoking gallery. The artist's X, Y, Z portfolios (containing homosexual sadomasochistic imagery, floral still lifes, and nude portraits of African-American men, respectively), were controversial at the time they were taken, and still raise eyebrows to this day. As with all museums, come with an open mind and an open heart.
When: Now through March 24
Where: LACMA, 5905 Wilshire Boulevard (at South Fairfax Avenue); 323-857-6000.

The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck Rolls Into L.A.
This NYC staple has made it's way West, and is ready to serve up some unexpected ice-cream toppings to the folks of L.A. The truck has been known to decorate its cones with wasabi pea dust and olive oil, but our personal faves are a bit more tame. Take for example, The Salty Pimp: Vanilla ice cream drizzled with dulce de leche, sprinkled with sea salt, and covered with chocolate dip. Yes, it may be officially fall here in Lala Land, but there's always room for dessert, no matter what season it is (or where you stand on same-sex marriage!).
When: Tuesday, October 23 through Saturday, October 27
Where: Visit Big Gay Ice Cream Truck for locations.

Get Gussied Up With DKNY For The Ultimate Girl's Night Out
Why wait for the weekend for a fun trip to the mall and an unforgettable GNO? DKNY will be hosting two events (one at the Century City Mall and one at South Coast Plaza), featuring discounts, specialty cocktails, and blowouts, courtesy of Drybar. Seriously, there's no better way to kick off the weekend!
When: Thursday, October 25, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: pureDKNY Westfield Century City Mall, 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Avenue of the Stars); 310-282-7130.; DKNY South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol Street (at Anton Boulevard); 714-549-1053.

Spend Friday Night With Bob Dylan (And His Band!)
Just like peanut butter and jelly, Dylan and his band are good on their own, but even better together. With only one gig in L.A. during its tour with Mark Knopfler, we suggest you book your seats, stat! Doesn't matter where you end up, rock 'n' roll lovers won't want to miss this!
When: Friday, October 26, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Hollywood Bowl, 2301 North Highland Avenue (near Cahuenga Boulevard); 323-850-2000.

We're Tickled Pink Over This Party!
Leave it to Elyse Walker to host one of the most fashionable fetes yet! The shop owner's swanky Palisades boutique boasts a slew of celeb clientele, and guests of this year's Pink Party will get a peek at the must-have merch. Hosted by Michelle Pfeiffer, the runway show will feature Kelly Wearstler, Stella McCartney, Valentino, and many more designers. Make sure to partake in the silent auction — proceeds will be donated to the the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program, a fund that's gained much support over the past seven years thanks to Walker and the annual event.
When: Saturday, October 27, 8 p.m.
Where: Hangar 8, Santa Monica Airport, 3100 Donald Douglas Loop North (at 31st Street); no phone.
