Ghostly International + Cascine Presents: Special Guest, Chad Valley, Jensen Sportag, Michna, Erika Spring, Selebrities, Rush Midnight, Heathered Pearls (DJ Set): le Baron, October 17, $15
Two of our favorite electronic pop labels have come together for a joint CMJ showcase at red-walled Chinatown haunt-of-the-moment, Le Baron. Ghostly International has been been putting out great music from artists including Matthew Dear and Gold Panda for years, while Cascine specializes in synthpop with summery vibes. Highlights should include Chad Valley’s wistful take on ‘80s Top 40 and Erika Spring’s lush dreampop.
Wednesday, October 17, 8 p.m., Le Baron, 32 Mulberry Street (between Bayard and Mosco streets); no phone.

MNDR, MS MR, Deap Vally, IO Echo, Sky Ferreira, Gabriel Bruce: Bowery Ballroom, October 18, $15
Thursday’s show at Bowery Ballroom is a stacked lineup featuring some of our favorite alt-pop divas. MNDR just dropped her solid debut LP Feed Me Diamonds, while New York synthpop duo MS MR brings epic drama to every one of their live shows. We're also especially stoked for Sky Ferreira, whose track “Everything Is Embarrassing” is in the running for best track of the fall.
Thursday, October 18, 6 p.m., Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street (between Bowery and Chrystie Street); 212-533-2111.
Death Grips, DIIV, Joey Bada$$, Holy Other, Met, Merchandise, Daughn Gibson, Hundred Waters, Le1f, Angel Haze: Villain, October 19, FREE
This CMJ, Pitchfork is hosting their official showcase at warehouse space Villain in Williamsburg with a lineup that’s heavy on the electronic and hip-hop side of things. Headliners Death Grips are an absolute can’t miss assault on the senses, while indie rock dudes should be stoked for the DIIV’s excellent guitar rock. Also important to note, up-and-coming MCs Le1f and Angel Haze shouldn’t be missed early on in the day. Oh, and best of all, it’s FREE!
Friday, October 19, Villian, 50 North 3rd Street (between Kent and Wythe avenues); Brooklyn; 718-782-2222.
