Let's face it, discount department stores aren't exactly the traditional trailblazers for avant-garde apparel. Design innovation is often (although, not always) found in luxury designers unbridled by bargain price points. But luckily, there will always be exceptions to the rule. Yes — in Narciso Rodriguez's collection for Kohl's, great fashion is also affordable.
The most clear inspiration for the collection comes from the designer's travels around Istanbul. In that vein, Rodriguez managed to reinvent work wear, for instance, with a sheath body-con midi, featuring gem-tone colorblocking. There is also a fuchsia wrap jacket that could easily be worn to lead a board meeting. However, our vote for best in show is the selection of tuxedo-striped trousers and shell tops, patterned with a Palmyra lantern print.
At around $30 to $150 per piece, we'll no doubt be donning these from 9-5 and way beyond. Sadly, the goods won't be available at Kohl's until November 7, so until then, scope out the lookbook ahead in the slides.
