While fashion month is all about what's new, it's just as much about what's stayed the same in the industry. And, some of the best presentations know how to marry the two. Such was the case with yesterday's Chanel presentation. Karl Lagerfeld kept classic Chanel in mind with tweed skirt suits and pearls aplenty. Collarless jackets were boxy and badass, and garments surprised us with peekaboo linings and feathery (literally) details.
The storied fashion house also took new shape, as well, particularly in lovely tiered jumpsuits (and also one strapless dress resembling the back of our favorite pair of jeans, which didn't quite hit the mark). However, it was the accessories that had the ultimate go-big-or-go-home attitude. Hats' circumferences spread far and wide, leather gloves were cut off for an edge, pearl necklaces
doubled quadrupled in size, and, yes, handbags were given hula-hoop-sized handles.
Lagerfeld's Chanel, once again, left us surprised and at the edge of our (desk) seats. Incredibly modern yet iconic, fanciful but also fowl, it was the perfect, eclectic mix that helps draw fashion month to a close. Check out some of the highlights ahead.
