Few acts have mastered merging high decibels with highly danceable better than Toronto synth-duo Crystal Castles and LA noise-poppers HEALTH. Both bands have a live show that puts other bands’ to shame — and a chance to see John Famiglietti’s hair is worth the ticket price on its own.

Just as we’re trying to wrap our heads around Animal Collective’s dense new album Centipede Hz, the band’s live set is reaching wondrous levels of psychedelic perfection. Seeing the Panda Bear, Avey Tare, Geologist, and Deacon do their thing can be a mind-altering experience, as they melt material new and old into one seamless synesthetic blend on stage.

Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Teebs, Jeremiah Jae: Terminal 5, October 7, $30
Flying Lotus’ fourth album, Until The Quiet Comes, is a triumph for the L.A. beatsmith and one of the year’s best LPs. For his show at Terminal 5, he’ll be joined by some of the signees from his label, Brainfeeder, and should supply a night of intricate jams and unrivaled beats at Terminal 5.
