Screw Pricey Products: The Best $8 You Can Spend On Your Skin

Cetaphil 1
Think you know your favorite beauty brands? Think again. In this continuing series, we highlight some of our go-to lines. Read on for some interesting tidbits, plus the rundown on the products that made our list of favorites.
Here in the beauty world, we're used to falling over ourselves for $50 foundation, $80 eyeshadow — and then there's the massage that dusts you with diamonds. With all the craze for pricey products, it's rare to hear big praise for the kind of skin care you can grab at Duane Reade. The exception? Cetaphil's amazingly gentle, skin-clearing cleansers. They're recommended by dermatologists, trusted by teens, and beloved by (ahem) slightly older beauty fans, too.

Introduced over 60 years ago, Cetaphil is still formulated the same way as when your grandma was using it. It doesn't contain any orchid extracts, mineralized pearls, or psuedo-scientific ingredients (youth-activators, anyone?). It simply cleans and moisturizes your skin, leaving it supple, glowing, and miraculously blemish-free. Its non-allergenic ingredients keep our sensitive skin in check, and the moisturizing cleanser is a godsend for ladies whose skin freaks out at the first sign of fall (out, damn flakes!). And, miracle of miracles, it does all that for under ten bucks.
With all those benefits, we'd happily pay twice as much — but don't tell the honchos at Cetaphil. We'd rather spend our beauty bucks where they really count: diamond-dust massages.
