Leave it to the Rodarte ladies to bring our most beloved dorky pleasures into the fashion conversation. Little House on the Prairie, Terrence Malick, and Disney princesses may all have been references from seasons past, but for spring, they concentrated on a concept that already involves dressing up: LARPing (Live Action Role Players, for those who haven't spent an weekend afternoon pretending to slay dragons and defend your kingdoms with fake swords and homemade armor).

The shapes felt medieval (embroidered bodices, floor-length gowns, layered shingled skirts), but if King Arthur approved the silhouettes, it was Captain Picard who provided the materials with glowing embroidery (made of lace and/or aluminum?), sparkling chain links, and wet-look mesh vinyl. Many of the oversized, color-blocked pieces were reminiscent of Balenciaga's nerd-gone-fashion-plate collection from last season, but it was slightly less '80s Dungeons & Dragons and a little more best-modern-day-Comic-Con-outfit, ever.
