5 Things To Do This Week In L.A.

things-to-do-600
While we love ourselves some Labor Day sales, we're pretty bummed that the long weekend crept up on us so quickly! Before summer's gone for good, we recommend you squeeze in any one of these can't-miss events. Partake in wholesome, family fun at the L.A. County Fair, or grab a refreshing drink on a famous patio — no matter how you say sayonara to summer, we say: Make it count!
Grab A Cocktail At The Legendary Dominick's
Tonight marks the final evening in the Italian restaurant's Summer Cocktail Series. Mixologist Marcos Tello will be behind the bar of the former Rat Pack hangout, but we suggest you take your drink to-go and cozy up with some spagetti on the brick patio.
When: Tuesday, August 28, 7 p.m.
Where: Dominick's, 8715 Beverly Boulevard (near San Vicente Boulevard); 310-652-2335.

Tune In For Mike Andrews' Open Mike Night
Banish any mid-week blues at this reoccurring musical showcase. Tomorrow, the singer (who scored Me and You and Everyone We Know), will host Dewey Cox, Alam Khan, and Salar Nader for an evening brimming with awesome beats.
When: Wednesday, August 29, 8 p.m.
Where: Bootleg Theater, 2220 Beverly Boulevard (at Roselake Avenue); 213-389-3856.
Visit The Largest County Fair In North America
Deep-fried Oreos and pig-racing not your thing? Then be a judge in the local wine-making competition, or peruse the London-inspired flower show (and no one needs to know you indulged in a funnel cake).
When: Begins Friday, August 31
Where: Fairplex, 1101 West McKinley Avenue (near North White Avenue); 909-623-3111.
Board The Queen Mary For An Art Deco Festival
After sipping a classic cocktail at the martini bar, expect to find us perusing this bazaar where vendors sell Art Deco-era items including clothing, jewelry, antiques, and accessories. And if you're feeling extra fancy, why not attend the Grand Ball? It's sure to attract quite the fashionable crowd!
When: Friday, August 31, to Sunday, September 2
Where: RMS Queen Mary, 1126 Queen's Highway (near South Harbor Scenic Drive); 562-435-3511.
Get An Earful At The FYF Labor Day Weekend Music Festival
It's somewhat insane how many great performers will be at this year's event: Refused and M83 headline day one, while Beirut and The Faint take on day two. Although Ryan Gosling's band isn't on the lineup, we're positive there will be hunky musicians galore!
When: Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2
Where: L.A. State Historic Park, 1245 North Spring Street (near West College Street); 323-441-8819.
