Perhaps providing one more reason to become a frequent Nordstrom shopper this year, Jason Wu is branching out from his sophisticated, sexy silhouettes for women and reaching out toward a younger crowd, reports WWD this morning. Miss Wu, the New York designer's newest collection, is set to launch exclusively in Nordstrom next January with a range of styles that certainly feel younger but definitely not immature.
Honing in on the sleek, feminine shapes that earned him many admirers (including Mrs. Obama) the premiere Miss Wu collection will include 40 wardrobe pieces priced between $195 and $795. While the '60s-inspired frocks in clashy-cool colors don't carry the same sticker shock as other Wu RTW items, they are also a far cry from your typical teen shopping expectations — in price and their oftentimes-gimmicky appeal.
No matter which way you look at the new Miss Wu collection — a youthful collection for
adults anyone, or your younger sister's favorite new line you can't wait to steal — we're happy to ignore any "juniors' department" labels and simply appreciate Miss Wu for the fun and exciting collection it's shaping up to be. (WWD)
