Art Museum of the Americas
Say hola to this cool, lesser-known art museum, funded by the Organization of American States, and its displays of work by artists in OAS countries. The building itself is gorgeous, too, with a date-friendly courtyard that serves as a perfect setting for all those romantic, post-art chats.
Where: 201 18th Street NW; 202-458-3362.
When: Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dupont Circle Gallery Walk
The city's densest concentration of small, for-profit galleries is nestled into the pretty blocks just north of Dupont Circle, around the Phillips Collection. The Phillips isn't free, but check out Hillyer, Studio, Cross-Mackenzie, and more while enjoying a stroll.
Where: Dupont Circle, by 21st and R.
When: Hours vary, check with galleries. (Most are closed Mondays.)

Katzen Arts Center at American University
Take a trip to Upper Northwest and stop into American University's elegant, modern arts center. The 130,000-square-foot space dedicated to arts collaboration includes the American University Museum and its cutting-edge works. Be sure to check out its newest acquisition: a cool collection of Israeli contemporary art.
