Washingtonians love their outdoor movie screenings — you can go all summer without seeing a movie indoors, if you so choose. There are options all over town, every night of the week, so grab a blanket and a picnic and head out.

Film Programs at the National Gallery of Art
The NGA screens some of the coolest movies around, with a mix of classic cinema, documentaries, and art films that are sure to make you feel smart and cultured. Through a collaboration with the International Federation of Film Archives, the Gallery has access to tons of cool films you can't see anywhere else. This summer, the general theme is films about the artistic process, and they're all sure to leave you inspired.

Movies at the National Archives
The National Archives is good for more than just sneaking a peek at the Bill of Rights — among other events, they show movies. The general concept is American history, and this summer's theme is "America Goes to the Movies" — think '40s Hollywood classics, like They Drive By Night and The Great McGinty.
