In a not-so-coincidental move by the storied fashion house, Schiaparelli has announced today — the morning of the highly anticipated Met Ball — they will be relaunching their company that was closed by Elsa Schiaparelli herself in 1954. With the Met exhibition, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, debuting, and all eyes of the fashion world turned to the historic designer, this announcement seems practically serendipitous. According to their press release, Schiaparelli has named model, actress, and French fashion star Farida Khelfa as brand ambassador, plus announced the July opening of the historic Maison Schiaparelli —the designer's Place Vendôme residence in the '30s and '40s — which will serve as an atelier to display a new collection debuting in March. However, with all the buzz surrounding who will be wearing what this evening, don't expect any of the Schiaparelli chatter to die down tomorrow — there's still the all-important and pending announcement of which designer will step in to succeed and continue the Schiaparelli dynasty. We'll all have to sit tight until October to find out, but your predictions are always welcome in the comments below.
