5thingstodo
Yep, that’s it! We’ve bid the week adieu. But, no need to shed a tear just because the weekend is (almost) behind us. We’re here to make sure you keep the good vibes rolling with something to look forward to. Naturally, we’ve scoured the city to bring you five must-peep events to keep you on your toes. So, get excited and break out your party pants — we’ve got a doozy of an agenda planned.
Good People at Geffen Playhouse
This Tony Award-nominated play tells the tale of a disgruntled woman laid off from her Dollar Store job and ready to make a life change. Um, catching this performance is a sure-fire way to keep your sprits uplifted when those mid-week blahs hit. We highly suggest catching it with all of the Good People at the Gil Cates theatre.
When: Now until Sunday, May 13; various showtimes.
Where: Geffen Playhouse, 10886 Le Conte Avenue (near Westwood Boulevard); 310-208-5454.

2012 L.A. Vegan Beer And Food Festival
We’re always game for a beer and food fest. It’s definitely a reward after a long week. But, if you’re looking to skip the unhealthy component that comes with these types of soirées, you may want to mosey on by the L.A. Vegan Beer And Food Festival. You’ll find a slew of animal-friendly brews and grub. Plus, there will be live music, and proceeds benefit the California Wildlife Center.
When: Saturday, May 12, 12 to 5 p.m.
Where: The Roxie Theatre, 9009 Sunset Boulevard (between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard); 310-278-9457.
EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women
If you’re up for getting out of the house and hitting the track for a good cause, this is the event for you. The EIF Revlon/Run Walk for Women is holding its annual run-slash-walk for cancer awareness (they’ve been at it since 1994). We couldn’t think of a better way to spend a sunny Saturday.
When: Saturday, May, 12 at 7 a.m.
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum & Sports Arena, 39393 South Figueroa Street (near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard); 213-747-7111.
2nd Annual Venice Beach Spring Fling Arts And Music Fest
What beats a jam-packed day of art and music? Not much if you ask us. So, we’re going to recommend you hit up the Venice Spring Fling, where a ton of activities — from belly dancing to live painting — are going down. Celebrate the history of one of the most-loved L.A. enclaves at this cool bash.
When: Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Venice Beach, 1500 Ocean Front Walk (near Pacific Avenue).
The Sound of Music at Egyptian Theatre
True: We’re suckers for musicals, but don’t even get us started on our all-time fave classic, The Sound of Music. We could watch it 100 times over. We already may have, actually. If you feel the same, don’t miss this Mother’s Day event featuring an exclusive signing of Fred Bronson's The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook and a screening of the flick. It’s not one to pass up!
When: Sunday, May 13, 4 p.m.
Where: Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard (between Highland Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard); 323-461-2020.
