UPDATE:Mid-June means you'e actually planning those weekend getaways and "sick days" at the beach. And the flops just keep on flippin' right along with your summer events. This article was originally published on May 3, 2012.

In case you haven't heard, summer is just around the corner, meaning your focus needs to shift from spring cleaning to summer lovin'—fast. And for all the time we plan to — hopefully — spend poolside and wave-side this summer, a great sandal is a must, and an old, gross pair (you know the kind) just won't do. From the classic Havaianas (did you know the brand is older than Christian Louboutin?) to more elaborate pairs from brands like Marc Jacobs and Pucci, we did the very hard research (seriously, there are some scary options out there) to find a pair or two (or 15) of fashionable thong sandals to perfectly accessorize your summer 'drobe. You know you're going to buy them anyway, so they might as well be as chic as possible.
