British citizens are upset with Prime Minister Theresa May for inviting Donald Trump to the U.K., Cosmopolitan reports. A petition to revoke the invitation has gathered nearly two million signatures. "Donald Trump should be allowed to enter the U.K. in his capacity as head of the U.S. government, but he should not be invited to make an official state visit because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen," it reads. "Donald Trump’s well-documented misogyny and vulgarity disqualifies him from being received by Her Majesty the Queen or the Prince of Wales. Therefore, during the term of his presidency, Donald Trump should not be invited to the United Kingdom for an official state visit." Trump is expected to stay in Buckingham Palace if the trip proceeds, which it most likely will. May has given no indication of changing her plans, The Guardian reports. Lord Ricketts, former head of the Foreign Office, wrote in a letter to The Times that this controversy leaves the Queen in "a very difficult position," forced to welcome someone her country largely disapproves of. "It would have been far wiser to wait to see what sort of president he would turn out to be before advising the Queen to invite him," he said. People are also upset with May for meeting with Trump before his immigration ban and not revealing or stopping any of his plans, Sky News reports.
