If you wondered why Alex Pettyfer wasn’t back as “The Kid” for the Channing Tatum strip-de-force Magic Mike XXL, a recent Pettyfer appearance on Bret Easton Ellis’s B.E.E. podcast has one possible answer. Long story short: Tatum, who loves being Winnie the Pooh, doesn’t like Pettyfer. Pettyfer confirmed as much, telling the Less Than Zero author, “Channing Tatum does not like me — and for many reasons. Many being my own fault.” Apparently, 25-year-old Pettyfer’s handlers told him to keep his “bad boy persona” under wraps for the filming of 2012 shock indie hit Magic Mike. Pettyfer told the American Psycho author, “I was very insecure as a human being. That also gave me a bad rep because everyone was like, ‘Alex doesn’t speak because he thinks he’s better than everyone else.’ That’s not true. I was just generally nervous and scared to be myself. I was in character.” The situation only got worse when Pettyfer had to move out of Tatum’s friend’s apartment complex and stopped paying rent. Pettyfer claims it was due to allergic reactions, but admits that he made the wrong choice. Still, it seems like Pettyfer has a lot of respect for Tatum. “What Channing says goes. He’s a movie star. I made the poor decisions,” Alex said. He went on: “Channing was actually an incredible influence on me because after this whole situation happened — this was kind of the end of my immaturity and all my experiences put into one. It was an incredible experience making Magic Mike. I wouldn’t replace it for anything.” Hopefully these beefcakes can squash their beef and, uh, make it into a cake? Just workshopping.
