For those who have lost all faith in the high schoolers of America, here's a story that should warm your heart. Senior Darcy Crabtree, who was born with cerebral palsy, was named Homecoming Queen of her Arkansas high school on Friday. KTBS, a TV station in Shreveport, LA, reports that the 18-year-old was nominated to the homecoming court by the school's senior football team. Micha Larey, a member of the team and Crabtree's homecoming escort, told the station that they nominated her because "she's just a sweet person and fun-loving all the time." "She's just an example of a person you want to be like," Larey said of Crabtree, who at the age of 4 had surgery on her legs to help her walk. "She was told she would never walk," Amy Helms, Crabtree's teacher, said. "And she's about to walk homecoming court her senior year." Helms said Darcy's story of determination has touched everyone in the school, but Crabtree's mother, Melissa, says it's she who is touched by the kindness the high school students have shown her daughter.
