Pope Dogs Are The Cutest Result Of The Pope’s U.S. Visit

When you hear the phrase "pope dog," a lot of possible definitions probably come to mind. Maybe it's the pope's dog or a group of trained guard dogs that accompany the pope. In this case, however, it's the best possible scenario — dogs dressed as the pope. Search the hashtag #PopeDog on Instagram and you'll be treated to puppies in mitres (pope hats), dogs rocking rosaries, and even canines in full robes. Though the latest spike in religiously dressed dogs is caused by the pope's visit to the U.S., the BBC notes the Twitter account @PopeDog was set up in 2013. Though Pope Francis did meet the Obama's pups during his visit to the White House, it seems the pups weren't dressed up as the Bishop of Rome. Maybe for his next trip.
