Things we did not expect to learn on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night:
1. The "Happy Birthday" song is finally in the public domain, which hopefully means we won't have to endure any more of those ridiculous, chain-restaurant renditions. Hip hip, hooray!
2. Kenan & Kel still got it! The pair reunited for a nostalgic Good Burger skit co-starring Fallon. You wouldn't know that this sketch marks the first time the comedic duo has been on TV together in a decade — the funny guys stepped right back into the stupid humor of their 1997 cult comedy hit. (Fallon wasn't so bad himself, either.) Just one more reason to miss the '90s. This one's worth watching:
3. James Spader is a wonderful actor, but a terrible, terrible neighbor. If you live in Greenwich Village, then it's entirely likely that you've heard the Emmy-winning actor blasting his jazz and rock vinyls at ridiculous volumes — and at all hours of the night. Around 1 a.m., Spader likes to emulate the experience of being at a live Rolling Stones show. Even worse, the man purposely leaves his music playing loudly when he goes out to walk his dog, so that when he starts back home, he can hear the familiar sounds of his apartment beckoning him home from two blocks away. What?! The Village can just deal. The reliabley odd actor returns to TV on October 1 for the third season premiere of his hit show The Blacklist.
4. Andrew Rannells, besides being a hilarious human being, nailed the aesthetic of the Nancy Meyers cinematic universe in just four words: "50 shades of cream." Accurate. Rannells co-stars with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in The Intern, hitting theaters on Friday.
