Pope Francis Meets Obamas, Tours D.C. In Teeny-Tiny Fiat

Pope Francis' historic first trip to the U.S. — which a select group of women have been eagerly anticipating — has officially kicked off. But don't expect any fancy pomp and circumstance: He was picked up at the airport in a teeny-tiny Fiat, which stood out in a sea of security detail SUVs. He arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday and was greeted with quite the welcoming committee. All of the Obamas, including Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and of course President Barack Obama, were on hand to meet Pope Francis. Vice President Joe Biden and Jill Biden were also in attendance. Naturally, the Italian car company was pleased with the news, tweeting "His Holiness knows how to make an entrance." And while Twitter had a field day over the minuscule ride, it's not a stretch to think of why the car was selected. Not only does it align with the pope's humble image, but it also incorporates a piece of Italy into his trip. Catch a glimpse of the pope in the car in the photo below.
